You place fittings and switches on your drawings, draw wiring loops with real cable types, and get a live bill of quantities that flows into a quote priced for profit.
What is the TradieTally Project Estimator?
Smart Bundles make everyday jobs fast to quote. Bigger jobs are different: new builds, renovations and multi-room fit-outs where the price lives in the drawings. Counting downlights off a PDF at midnight is exactly the kitchen-table work TradieTally was built to get rid of.
The Project Estimator brings plan takeoff into TradieTally. It is the next step in our estimating-first approach: the quantities come straight off the plans, the pricing comes from your real costs, and the result becomes a quote you can trust.
How does plan takeoff work in the Project Estimator?
The preview shows the workflow we are building, page by page through a full set of drawings.
- Load your plans: work through multi-page drawings, zooming in room by room
- Place symbols: LED downlights, pendants, wall, garden and sensor lights, light, gang, 2-way and dimmer switches, smoke detectors, exhaust fans and emergency exit signs, including brand-specific switch plates like Clipsal Classic and Iconic
- Calibrate the scale: set the page scale once so cable runs measure in metres
- Draw wiring loops: connect devices into circuits and set the cable type for each loop
- Watch the quantities build: every symbol and run updates the bill of quantities instantly
A live bill of quantities as you go
As you place symbols and draw runs, the bill of quantities updates on screen: products by type and count, cable by type in metres, and accessories like flex and plug bases and mounting brackets. Anything that has not been counted yet is flagged, so nothing slips through.
Open the full bill of quantities with costs to see what the job will cost you before you price it, using the same charge-out rate and margins as the rest of TradieTally.
Wiring loops with real cable types
Each wiring loop records the devices attached, its length and its cable type, so cable is costed properly instead of guessed. Markup tools let you add text notes, lines, arrows, cable runs, circuits, switch wires, arcs and note clouds, then download or print the marked-up plan for the crew.

Can I measure cable lengths from a PDF plan?
Yes. Once you calibrate the page scale, cable runs and wiring loops are measured in metres and added to the bill of quantities by cable type.
