What the Stripe integration does
- Stripe Connect account linked to your TradieTally business
- Pay Now link on emailed invoices and on the public invoice link
- Online card payments recorded against the matching invoice
- Stripe payments sit alongside cash, card, bank transfer, cheque and EFTPOS in one payment history
- Paid invoices flow through to Xero when the Xero integration is connected
How to set it up
- Open your integration settingsFrom your TradieTally settings, go to the Integrations section and find Stripe.
- Connect with StripeSelect Connect Stripe. You'll be taken to Stripe to sign in or create a Stripe account for your business.
- Complete Stripe's checksStripe will ask for your business and bank details so it can pay out to you. This is handled by Stripe, not TradieTally.
- Send an invoiceEmail an invoice from TradieTally. The customer sees a Pay Now link and can pay by card straight away.
What does the Stripe integration do?
It puts a Pay Now link on your invoices so customers can pay by card online, and it records that payment against the invoice for you. Fewer “I’ll do a bank transfer later” conversations, fewer invoices sitting at 30 days.
TradieTally uses Stripe Connect. That means your Stripe account is yours — Stripe pays out to your business bank account, and TradieTally reads the payment so your invoice status is right.
How do customers pay?
- You finish the job and raise the invoice in TradieTally — from the original quote or from scratch.
- You email it straight from TradieTally. The PDF is attached and the email includes the public invoice link.
- The customer clicks Pay Now, enters their card details on Stripe’s secure payment page, and they’re done.
- The invoice shows as paid in TradieTally. If you’ve connected Xero, the payment syncs there too.
Why does getting paid faster matter for tradies?
Cash flow is what keeps the van on the road. You’ve already paid for the materials, the fuel and the wages by the time the invoice goes out. Every day it sits unpaid is your money funding someone else’s job.
A card payment option on the invoice removes a step for the customer. Homeowners in particular are used to paying online for everything else. Giving them a button to press while the job is fresh in their mind is simpler than hoping they remember your BSB later.
What other payment methods does TradieTally record?
Stripe is one option. You can also record cash, card, bank transfer, cheque and EFTPOS payments against any invoice. They all sit in the same payment history so your reports show what’s outstanding and what’s been collected. See invoicing and payments for the full picture.
What does it cost?
Stripe charges its own processing fees on each payment — check Stripe’s site for current Australian rates. The Stripe integration is included on every TradieTally plan. See pricing for plan details.
Who is this for?
Any trade business sending invoices to customers who’d rather pay by card. It suits residential electrical work, security installs for homeowners and small businesses, and A/C installs where the customer wants the job paid off and done. If most of your work is for builders on 30-day terms, you may use it less — but it’s there when you need it.
Popular with: electricians, security technicians, air conditioning

Stripe integration FAQs
Who sets the card processing fees on Stripe payments?
Stripe sets its own processing fees, and they're charged by Stripe on your Stripe account. Check Stripe's Australian pricing page for current rates. The Stripe integration itself is included in every TradieTally plan.
Can a customer pay a TradieTally invoice online without logging in?
Yes. The invoice email and the public invoice link both show the Pay Now button. The customer doesn't need a TradieTally account.
Do I still need to mark an invoice paid when the customer pays through Stripe?
No. A Stripe payment made through the Pay Now link is recorded against that invoice in TradieTally. Payments made other ways — cash, bank transfer, EFTPOS — you record manually.
Can I take Stripe payments if I'm on the Solo plan?
Yes. Stripe Connect is included on every TradieTally plan.
