What the Xero integration does
- Secure connection to Xero using OAuth 2.0 — you sign in to Xero directly, TradieTally never sees your Xero password
- Contact sync so customers created in TradieTally appear in Xero
- Invoice sync so invoices raised from a quote or job land in Xero ready for reconciliation
- Payment sync so cash, card, bank transfer, EFTPOS or Stripe payments recorded in TradieTally are reflected in Xero
- Account mapping with per-customer overrides, so different customers can post to different revenue accounts
- Job costs and business costs carried through, so job profit and your overall books tell the same story
How to set it up
- Open your integration settingsFrom your TradieTally settings, go to the Integrations section and find Xero.

What does the TradieTally Xero integration do?
It links your quoting and job management in TradieTally to your accounting in Xero, so the invoice you raise on the job is the same invoice your bookkeeper sees. No retyping customer details. No copying invoice totals across at the end of the month.
TradieTally is Australian estimating software with job management built in, made for electricians, security technicians and air conditioning businesses. Xero is where a lot of those businesses keep their books. The integration is the bridge between the two.
What syncs between TradieTally and Xero?
Contacts
Customers you create in TradieTally are synced to Xero as contacts. Multi-site customers keep their site details in TradieTally, where you need them for scheduling and job history.
Invoices
When you convert a quote to an invoice, or raise one from a completed job, it syncs to Xero. GST-inclusive Australian pricing carries through, so the totals match.
Payments
Record a payment in TradieTally — cash, card, bank transfer, cheque, EFTPOS or a Stripe payment — and it’s reflected in Xero against the invoice. See invoicing and payments for how payments work inside TradieTally.
Job and business costs
Job costs and business costs are part of the sync. That matters because TradieTally shows you profit on every job, and you want that number to line up with what your accountant sees.
How does account mapping work?
You set default Xero accounts once — for example, which revenue account sales post to. Then, if a particular customer needs something different, you add a per-customer override. A builder you do new installs for and a body corporate on a maintenance arrangement can post to separate accounts without you thinking about it each time.
Why does this matter for a small trade business?
Most sparkies, security techs and A/C installers don’t lose money on the tools. They lose it in admin. Every invoice typed twice is time you’re not quoting the next job. If you’re also using the charge-out rate calculator to price properly, the Xero sync means the profit you planned on is the profit you can actually check.
What doesn’t the integration do?
Today TradieTally connects to Xero. MYOB and QuickBooks integrations are in development. If you’re on one of those and can’t wait, or are weighing up a move to Xero, talk to your accountant first, then get in touch if you have questions about how TradieTally fits in.
Ready to connect?
Every plan includes the Xero integration — see pricing for Solo and Team options. Start a 21-day free trial, connect Xero from your settings, and send your first synced invoice the same day.

Xero integration FAQs
Does TradieTally create a duplicate contact in Xero if the customer already exists?
Contacts are synced between the two systems. If you already have customers in Xero, check the contact list after connecting and tidy up any near-duplicates (for example, different spellings of the same business name) before you start syncing invoices in bulk.
Can I send one customer's invoices to a different revenue account in Xero?
Yes. Account mapping has a default for your whole business, and you can set a per-customer override so that, for example, maintenance contracts and new installs post to different accounts.
If a customer pays through a Stripe Pay Now link, does the payment show in Xero?
Payments recorded in TradieTally, including Stripe payments, are synced to Xero against the matching invoice, so your bookkeeper isn't chasing payments that have already come in.
Do I need a paid Xero subscription to use the integration?
You need an active Xero organisation that you can sign in to and authorise. TradieTally doesn't charge extra for the Xero connection; it is included on every plan.
