What the Supplier price lists integration does

  • CSV bulk import of materials, SKUs and buy prices
  • Materials linked to suppliers, with pricing history when prices change
  • Supplier database with categories and preferred suppliers
  • Price list browsing so you can find an item and drop it into a quote
  • Imported materials flow into quotes with your markup or margin applied
  • Stock levels, reorder levels and low-stock alerts on imported items

How to set it up

  1. Export a price file from your wholesalerLog in to your trade account with your wholesaler and export your price list or account pricing as a CSV or spreadsheet. If you can't find the option, ask your branch or account manager.
  2. Tidy the columnsOpen the file and check it has the columns you need, such as item code, description, unit and buy price. Save it as CSV.
  3. Import into TradieTallyUse the CSV bulk import in your TradieTally inventory and match the columns in your file to the fields in TradieTally.
  4. Link to the supplierAssign the imported materials to the right supplier and mark your preferred suppliers.
  5. Quote with itSearch the price list while building a quote and add items. Re-import when your wholesaler sends updated pricing to keep your history current.

Can TradieTally use my wholesaler’s price list?

Yes — by CSV import. TradieTally doesn’t have a direct, live price feed from any wholesaler. What it does have is a CSV bulk import that takes the price file you export from your wholesaler account and turns it into a searchable materials list linked to that supplier.

We’d rather be upfront about that than let you find out after you sign up.

Why does supplier pricing matter for quoting?

Your quote is only as good as your buy prices. If you’re guessing what a switchboard enclosure or a 4-camera NVR costs this month, your margin is a guess too. With your actual account pricing in TradieTally, you add materials to a quote and see the real cost and profit before you send it.

That’s the core of estimating software: knowing your numbers before the customer does.

How does it work with different wholesalers?

Most trade wholesalers let account holders download pricing from their online trade portal or request a price file from their branch. That includes electrical wholesalers, security distributors and HVAC and refrigeration distributors. The formats vary, but nearly all of them can be saved as CSV.

Once you have the file:

  1. Check the columns — item code, description, unit and price are the essentials.
  2. Import it through CSV bulk import.
  3. Link it to the supplier in your supplier database.
  4. Re-import when pricing changes. Pricing history keeps track of the movement.

TradieTally isn’t partnered with any wholesaler. The import works with the file from your own account, whoever you buy from.

What else can you do with imported materials?

Preferred suppliers

Your supplier database has categories and preferred suppliers, so it’s clear who you normally buy from.

Price list browsing

Search and browse your imported list while you build a quote, rather than flicking between a supplier website and your quoting tool.

Stock on the van

Imported items can be tracked as stock with SKUs, quantities, reorder levels and low-stock alerts. Field staff on the Team plan can book stock on and off the van.

Will there be direct wholesaler integrations?

We’re interested in working with wholesalers on better price file formats and direct connections. If you’re a wholesaler, get in touch or see our partners. Until anything is announced, CSV import is how it works.

Which trades use this?

  • Electricians importing electrical wholesaler pricing for cable, switchgear and fittings.
  • Security technicians importing security distributor pricing for cameras, NVRs, alarm panels and access control.
  • Air conditioning businesses importing HVAC distributor pricing for split systems, line sets and accessories.

Popular with: electricians, security technicians, air conditioning

FAQ

Supplier price lists integration FAQs

Does TradieTally have a live price feed from electrical wholesalers?

No. TradieTally doesn't currently have a direct API feed from any wholesaler. You import supplier pricing by CSV. It's a few minutes each time your pricing changes, and you control exactly what goes in.

How do I import a wholesaler price file into TradieTally?

Export your price list from your wholesaler trade account as CSV, then use the CSV bulk import in TradieTally inventory to map the columns (code, description, unit, cost). Link the items to that supplier once imported.

What happens to my old prices when I re-import an updated supplier price list?

Materials are linked to suppliers with pricing history, so you can see how a buy price has moved over time instead of losing the old figure.

Can I import price lists from more than one wholesaler?

Yes. Import each supplier's file and link the materials to that supplier. Mark your preferred suppliers so it's clear who you normally buy from.
